    DID  YOU  KNOW  ?
The name of the store that our Great Grand Father Hanna started

and that the Barakett Brothers continued to run for 20 years was

called LAINA (Wool Store) Location: Beirut. They got the wool from
Syria. Most of their customers were French who appreciated the 100% wool
Great Grand Mother Wadia was known for her calmness.  Accommodating  Zahra (Her Mother in Law) who lived with them for many years. GG Mother Wadia was the only person that got along with her.
Grand Aunt Nalé had 2 children. Hoda & Nabil. At the age of approx 7 , during recess at school Nabil was playing with friends with slingshots, he got hit on his temple with one & died immediately. His death took a toll on Grand Aunt Nalé and she was never the same after that incident. She became extremely protective of Hoda and remained sadden until she passed away at a young age

LEGEND ABOUT HOW DABKE WAS CREATED

A flat roof of a Lebanese house was covered with branches and                               mud. In time the top mud layer started to crack so the owner
put a new layer but he needed help to finish the job. So, his                       neighbours formed a line and started stomping their feet while walking on the roof.                                      The mud layer was fixed and new dance was created.
First known as "Al Awneh" Later changed to "Daloonah" a form of improvised singing & DABKE DANCE

Different theories about the origin of word Lebanon
Some say it is derived from                                       Aramaic word "lbn" which means "white"
It's believed that it's because of the

                                                  snow covered Mount Lebanon
                                            جبل لبنان
                                          which extends across the country
Its highest peak is Qurnat as Sawda' (3,088 m)
                             2nd theory

sees the origin of the word Lebanon in Syriac
which is a dialect of Middle Aramaic language
In Syriac word Lebanon could be translated as
"the heart of God" ( "leb" is heart, (a)non is God)

La Marquise is the world's oldest running automobile, as of 2011.   It is an 1884 model made by Frenchmen De Dion, Bouton & Trépardoux.     It made the 20-odd-mile Paris-to-Versailles round trip at an average speed of almost 16 miles per hour (26 km/h).
Fueled by coal, wood and bits of paper, the car takes 30–40 minutes to build up enough steam to drive.    Top speed is 38 miles per hour (61 km/h).    As the oldest car, it wore the number "0" in the 1996 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.   The vehicle was sold at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance for $3.52 million.     It sold again in 2011 for $4.6 million, a record price for an early automobile.

Hippocrates first used the word “thalassotherapy” to describe
the healing effects of seawater, according to Pacific Naturopathic.
Ancient Greeks appreciated the health and beauty benefits of this mineral-rich water and bathed and soaked in seawater-filled pools & hot tubs. Among several benefits, swimming in seawater can help increase your immune system function, improve circulation,
promote overall well-being & hydrate your skin

On peut juger la grandeur et la valeur morale d'une nation
à la façon dont elle traite ses animaux

         Citation de Mahatma gandhi
“Class never runs scared.
  It is sure-footed and confident.
It can handle anything that comes along.
Class has a sense of humor.
It knows a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations.
Class never makes excuses.
It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes.
Class knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of small, inconsequential sacrifices.
Class bespeaks an aristocracy that has nothing to do with ancestors or money.
Some wealthy “blue bloods” have no class, while individuals who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it.
Class is real.
 It can’t be faked.
Class never tried to build itself by tearing others down.
Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse.
Class can “walk with kings and keep it’s virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch.”

Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because that person is comfortable with himself.
If you have class, you’ve got it made.
If you don’t have class, no matter what else you have, it doesn’t make any difference.”
